Pure Colors

Pure Colors is the alias of Joey Tuholski, a producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist based in Denver, CO.

Recent collaborations include releases with artists like The Free Label, Flamingosis, and more.

Pure Colors has spent the past decade shaping a sound that's equal parts soulful, raw, and funk- driven. "Over the past decade, Joey has meticulously sculpted his distinct sonic identity, masterfully blending diverse musical influences into a vibrant and compelling take on funky dance music". - Dancing Astronaut

He started out drumming on kitchenware, moved to piano, and by high school was one of only six percussionists selected for the Governor's Honors Program. Drawing from the depth of the Chicago house scene, his DJ sets weave together synth-heavy funky house, disco, and funk with precision and style. A multi-instrumentalist and DJ, he brings a commanding presence behind the decks that turns any set into a full- on experience. His first two albums showcase a rich palette of funk, jazz, soul, electronic textures, and hip-hop-inspired beats. More about those below.

In 2022, Joey released his 2nd studio album "Dreaming In Four Dimensions". For the first time, nearly all drums on this album are recorded from the artist's home studio, rather than drum samples. It's very organic, laced with meticulous percussion and nostalgic, funky synthesizers derived from the classic Juno 106 and others. "Ascensión" was a stand out track, receiving multiple editorial placements, 1.5 million streams and unexpected radio play across the world.

"A Good Time" EP was released in 2021, with producer "iamalex". According to raverrafting, "his music hits you with the smooth disco feels in the same neighborhood as GRiZ, but still with its own original spin”.

2019 saw the release of his first album, appropriately titled "Chromafunk". It features some of the most talented funk beat makers in the game. Collaborators on it include Flamingosis, Engelwood, and Guggenz.

With support from The Pretty Lights Movement in the form of Sirius XM radio play and multiple label releases on prestigious platforms such as Discoluminati, Sundae Sauuce, Hip Dozer, and Vinyl Digital, the growth has been quite steady.

He has performed at multiple music festivals and venues around the country with acts like Yung Bae, Derrick Carter, Big Gigantic, The Kount, Flamingosis, Break Science, Lando Burch, Maddy O'Neal, Marvel Years, and more.

He also thinks that since this is written in the third person, you will take him a little more seriously, but at the same time, hopes that you don't take him too seriously.
